What is 'Afterlife' about?
Afterlife is a popular bar within Night City - home to top fixer 'Rogue Amendaires' and acting as a hub for the many mercenaries of Night City to find work. The bar serves drinks named after Night City legends who passed on in their line of work.
The main character of the game 'V' and their best friend 'Jackie' meet here before starting their biggest job yet. Little did they suspect that the bar would be the last place they will meet before everything changes.
The song 'Afterlife' repeats phrases such as "By your side" referring to meeting people within the bar and working together. "Make you mine." is the dream that the mercs have to become legends.

An EMP can be incredibly powerful within the world of Cyberpunk 2077, as humans are now living amongst AI, and technological advances are integrated within everyone's lives, from cyberware upgrades to flying shuttles.
An important mission halfway through the game, leads V to meet with Panam Palmer; a fiery girl who acts out spontaneously. She comes up with a plan that involves setting off an EMP to help V reach their goal.
The strong pulse of this song mimics the EMP pulse spreading throughout the world. It's loud drop and synth melody replicates the loudness and chaos of the bomb going off.

A confident and skilled professional, Evelyn adeptly navigates her role and achieves her objectives. She plays the part that is required and is very good at getting what she wants. Following the events of the heist, Evelyn unfortunately takes a turn for the worst and the system fights back.
The dark lyrics of the song describe the intense struggle the character is facing with her inner demons. They portray the physical and emotional pain she has endured, which has left her feeling broken and hollow - a shell of her former self. Additionally, the lyrics delve into her profession and the way in which she manipulated those around her, offering insight into her complex character.

'Wetsuit' describes the romance sequence and relationship between the main character 'V' (female) and 'Judy Alvarez'.
The missions begins with Judy telling V that for this particular mission, they will need a wetsuit. The pair dive down into the cavernous lake to visit a flooded city which was once young Judy's home. After sharing memories, the two of them hit it off inside the lodge.
The lyrics describe key features within the scene - from diving below the water "Deep dive take me to that place."
"Watch me suffocate. Oh yeah I need you." Referencing V almost drowning and being saved by Judy.
"Coffee on the counter." and "Cigarette smoke makes a clouded view." describe the setting of the lodge.
